
Coaches vs. Cancer® Classic Field Finalized

BROOKLYN, NY – The National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society® announced today that the field for the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, an annual basketball event hosted by the Coaches vs. Cancer program to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays, has been set.
Brigham Young, Florida State, Notre Dame and Saint Joseph’s will serve as the four Regional Round hosts for this year’s Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, with the opening round games beginning on November 9th. Each team will begin play on campus before advancing to the Championship Rounds – televised live on truTV - on November 16-17 atBarclaysCenter inBrooklyn,NY.
JoiningBrigham Young,FloridaState, Notre Dame andSaint Joseph’s in the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic areBuffalo,Evansville,GeorgiaState, Monmouth, South Alabama,TennesseeState,Western Illinoisand Yale. EvansvilleandGeorgiaStatewill serve as Sub-regional Round hosts for games played November 15-21.
TruTV, a part of the Turner Broadcasting System, will televise the four Championship Round games. The Semifinal Doubleheader featuring Brigham Young and Florida State will be aired at 7:00pm (ET), followed by Notre Dame and Saint Joseph’s. The next evening, the Consolation Game will be shown at 7:00pm (ET), followed by the Championship Game.

About the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic
The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic (cvcclassic.com) is one of the most prestigious early-season college basketball tournaments. Twelve schools will compete in the event, with four of those teams serving as regional hosts. Regional round action takes place November 9-13, 2012 with the four hosts advancing to the championship rounds on November 16-17, 2012 at the newBarclaysCenter inBrooklyn,New York. The remainder of the field will participate in a round-robin series at one of two sub host sites.
A nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC.org), the Coaches vs. Cancer program (coachesvscancer.org) empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living, through year-round fundraising activities and advocacy. Since 1993, the initiative has raised more than $85 million to fund groundbreaking research, provide up-to-date cancer information, advocate for public health policies, and deliver services to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is produced by Blue Ridge Sports & Entertainment, Inc. (BlueRidgeSports.com) a sporting events management company based in the Shenandoah Valley city of Winchester, Virginia. The championship round of the Classic will take place at Barclays Center (www.BarclaysCenter.com), a brand-new sports and entertainment venue in the heart ofBrooklyn, and will be aired on TruTV by Turner Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
